The Airedale Clinical Skills Centre is a key asset of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
The aim of the Centre is to deliver excellence in clinical training and education by combining state of the art technology with a team that has a wealth of experience and knowledge. The Centre has a reputation for well-organised, highly professional courses and enjoys an enviable location in the Yorkshire Dales, with excellent transport links.
The Centre is a recognised regional Centre for the Royal College of Surgeons approved to deliver the nationally recognised courses: ATLS (Advance Trauma Life Support) and Training the Trainer. Along with this we are approved, by the Resuscitation Council, to run the ALS (Advanced Life Support) and ILS (Immediate Life Support) courses.
The Clinical Skills Centre consists of a Clinical Skills Lab, two lecture rooms and two practical teaching rooms. One room is designated for resuscitation training and the other room is set up as a ward simulation room, used for practical simulated patient sessions, the recent installation of SMOTS (Scotia Medical Observation and Training System) equipment has enabled the Centre to develop its simulation programme to deliver training sessions which can be observed live from another location. This allows increased numbers to be involved in the simulation training sessions and the practitioners to practice and develop a full range of skills necessary for patient care whilst in a safe and controlled environment.

First Aid at Work
First Aid at Work
1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work
Health and Safety Law requires that all employers assess the risks in their workplace and provide adequate facilities to deal with illness and injury happening on their premises. This includes having sufficient numbers of trained First Aiders available on site and the equipment necessary to carry out that role. Failure to comply with this law can render an employer liable to prosecution. More information can be found on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website.
It is recommended that managers undertake a first aid risk assessment to identify which type of first aider and how many are required in the workplace in order to provide adequate cover for differing shift patterns, relief for holidays and sickness etc.
The one day Emergency First Aid at Work course is delivered in our bespoke training facilities by experienced healthcare professionals who, in addition to professional qualifications, have a wealth of experience in real emergency situations.
